And so it goes, that all good things must come to an end...

I'm not going to lie, writing this is actually kind of awkward. It's the internet, but still.

Basically, after a full year of doing the Paper People Project, it has come to an "official end". There are a lot of reasons for my decision, and it's something I really wish I didn't have to do, but truth be told - ever since my favourite paper friends were stolen/lost, the project has actually made me sad. I haven't been able to work on new ones, or look at old ones without feeling a pang of sadness for the ones I don't know the whereabouts of. It sounds kind of lame and stuff I guess, but losing something you have put so much time and effort into is always going to hurt, somewhat.

I'd really like to thank a whole lot of people for helping me out and nudging me along the way, and turning Paper People into something more than a summer holiday hobby. I'd mostly like to thank:

My mum and dad. Of course.

My friends, for being the first paper people, and putting up my with spamming while I was desperate for photos.

Bats Magazine, who gave me my first exhibit (and then 3 after that, I think), and for also leading the way to a whole bunch of new exhibits and contacts. I owe most of this to them (:

Everyone who became a paper person, because of course, you were the foundation for the project!

I bet there is more people to thank but off the top of my head these are the few that came to mind first. Thanks also to everyone who became fans and bought stickers and willingly put up with my spammage until it became slightly unbearable. :)

Even though it's the end of the project I am going to leave the blog / myspace / facebook fan page available, because Paper People is something I might visit sometime in the future to use for other artistic endeavors. In the meantime, I am working on another folio of artworks completely different to Paper People, and if you are at all interested you can see it all on: http://justsomeart.blogspot.com/

Again, thanks to everyone, stickers are still available if you'd like, and you can still contact me on paperpeopleproject@live.com.au :)

Paper People Stickers

I am going to have a whole bunch of stickers printed of my paper people for the Bats launch this weekend! I'll probably make them the original paper person size (which is about 12 - 15cm) as well as some that are smaller, and maybe a few of the colour ones* that are larger.

I am only printing the ones that featured on the cover of XOZ magazine as they are the most popular!

If you're interested in buying stickers and aren't going to be at the Bats launch, send me an email and I'm sure we can work something out. I haven't worked out prices yet since I have to work out the cost of printing etc. A pricing sheet will be posted by this Saturday!

* Note: The labels over their faces will not be there, and the three that are in colour will possibly be the only ones in colour.

Next Exhibit

Keep the date free lovely people!

So...

The reason why I have dissapeared lately and haven't been drawing or blogging is because at the last exhibit I did, all my works were lost/stolen. Because of this I have had no motivation to actually work on anything new, nor have I even wanted to look at anything Paper People related. Sorry to anyone who has been sending photos, I will be doing some more soon, but at the moment I just can't!

It actually really upsets me thinking about the fact that they are gone, and I know to you they are just a bunch of little drawings - but they are just under a years worth of work. I'll start posting when I start drawing my stuff again.

In the mean time, feel free to email me at paperpeopleproject@live.com.au - if you know anything about where my paper people are let me know, or just email me to say hi or send a photo.

Cruella de Vil

Lately I have been doing a lot of illustration and drawing outside Paper People. If you're interested to see any of the other work I do, head on over to my other blog, an owls inventory. It's where I upload a lot of my other drawings / photos, and also photos of stuff I collect!

Here is one of my newest, it's a digital drawing of (my interpretation of) Cruella de Vil. ;)

Missing Paper People

Just a quick blog about some paper people that have gone missing at an exhibit I did at Little Jumbo! If anyone has taken / seen someone take any of my paper people from an exhibit it would be really great if you could email me at paperpeopleproject@live.com.au

My paper people are like my children and it really pains me that now some are missing because people don't realise how important they are to me!

Kind of sux being a minor though since I can't actually stay for long (until 9pm, haha) but hey I am just glad to be doing something again! I'm working on some stuff for it.. only a small exhibit but still, come along, it will be a great night :)

I'm using an Alice in Wonderland theme for this night!

I'm not dead!

I am so sorry for basically abandoning you oh Paper Army. All is not lost - I exist! However I am currently working on some more stuff both for paper people and outside it. I'm biding my time as well, I am on holidays and being able to relax for now is really, really nice. No shows coming up, nor any new people to show off... But keep an eye out for my paper friends, they might appear from time to time.

If you feel like emailing me about anything don't hestitate too either! I think my PPP account has something wrong with it though.. So uh, my bad? :)

P.S. I also have 3 more giant paper people left for anyone interested!

Paper People were displayed with Georg at the Bats launch! So he is a must to come check out. He is getting pretty famous on the Brisbane art scene. Don't think I have seen work by Rob Scott before but I am keen!
